OVERCOMING IMMUNITIES TO CHANGE (OI2C) |

MINDS AT WORK helps individuals, groups and organizations to diagnose and overcome the fundamental, yet often invisible, forces that actively interfere with making progress on goals critical to success. This work is based on our observation in countless settings that excellent strategic plans and breakthrough solutions often still do not lead to significant change, even when critical personnel are fully behind the initiatives. Similarly, individuals make countless sincere pledges to themselves and others to change in important ways intended to improve their performance. Sometimes they even temporarily accomplish the change. But they soon commonly return to the status quo. We have discovered that for every unfulfilled commitment to change people genuinely hold and act out of, they also have a conflicting and harder-to-recognize commitment that prevents the very change they desire. MINDS AT WORK helps people at all levels in organizations to (1) see their precise conflicting commitments and the assumptions that underlie them, and (2) cross the barriers to change they create for themselves.
