About
Closing the gap between good intentions and actual behaviors.
Minds at Work helps individuals, teams, and organizations make those personal and collective changes that are most important to them — but have proven resistant even to thoughtful plans and heartfelt intentions.
What we believe
Most change fails not because people don't care — but because something hidden is working against it.
Minds at Work was built on a finding that reframes how you understand resistance to change: the failure to enact visible goals is often due to the success of enacting unseen ones. People aren't failing to change because they lack discipline or motivation. They are succeeding — at protecting something they haven't yet been able to name.
The Immunity to Change™ process — developed by Kegan and Lahey at Harvard — makes that hidden system visible. When people can see what they're protecting and why, they can begin to test whether the protection is still necessary. That is when genuine change becomes possible.
This work is grounded in constructive developmental theory — Robert Kegan's decades of research into how adults continue to grow in the complexity of how they make sense of the world. ITC is one of the most powerful tools to emerge from that tradition.

What we do
The work happens at every scale — from a single leader to an entire organization.
Public programs
From the ITC Facilitator's Workshop to the Coach Certification Program, our public programs develop practitioners at every stage — from first encounter with ITC to advanced developmental assessment and full certification.

A global network of certified ITC coaches — trained in the method and grounded in adult development theory — work with leaders and individuals seeking the kind of change that has resisted other approaches.

Through Incandescent, we bring ITC and developmental frameworks to organizations — helping leadership teams, HR functions, and culture change initiatives do the adaptive work that strategy alone can't accomplish.
For organizations →Part of Incandescent
Minds at Work is part of Incandescent — sharing the same intellectual foundation and a common belief that real change requires development from within.
Minds at Work is focused on the individual: the person working through their own immunity to change, the coach building mastery in the method, the practitioner who wants to go deeper into adult development theory. Our programs, coaching network, and community exist for that kind of development.
Incandescent works at the organizational level, partnering with leaders pursuing strategies that require them to break through the limits of how they currently operate. Both draw on the same research: Kegan and Lahey's work on adult development and Immunity to Change™. Together, they span the full continuum from individual transformation to organizational culture.
