The people behind the work
Minds at Work was founded by Robert Kegan and Lisa Lahey, the researchers who developed the Immunity to Change™ approach. It is today part of Incandescent — an advisory firm that brings these tools and frameworks to organizations pursuing strategies that require them to break through the limits of how they currently operate.

Robert Kegan, Ph.D.
Chief Knowledge Officer
Robert Kegan is a psychologist and one of the world's foremost researchers on adult development. He spent four decades on the faculty of Harvard Graduate School of Education, where he developed the constructive-developmental theory that underlies the Immunity to Change™ approach. His books — including The Evolving Self and In Over Our Heads — have shaped how researchers, educators, and practitioners understand how adults grow in complexity of mind throughout their lives.

Lisa Lahey, Ed.D
Chief Knowledge Officer
Lisa Laskow Lahey is a developmental psychologist and co-creator of the Immunity to Change™ method alongside Robert Kegan. Her work bridges research and practice — she has taught at Harvard Graduate School of Education, co-led the Change Leadership Group (a national initiative funded by the Gates Foundation), and worked with leaders and organizations across sectors. Her books with Kegan, including Immunity to Change™ and An Everyone Culture, are the defining texts of this field.

Deborah Helsing, Ed.D.
Director
Deborah Helsing leads the work of Minds at Work alongside the founders. She teaches Adult Development and Immunity to Change™ at Harvard Graduate School of Education, coaches leaders across sectors, and is a primary faculty member for Minds at Work's public programs — including the Introduction to Adult Development Theory workshop and the Coach Certification Program. She works extensively with coaches and consultants who are integrating ITC methodology into their practices.

Director of Operations
Kaylee Slafkosky manages the day-to-day operations of Minds at Work — overseeing business and finance, the delivery of public and customized learning programs, and contracts and vendor relationships. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Management with a concentration in Entrepreneurship.
