Announcing Immunity to Change: Foundations to Application

A new course for Fall 2026 — designed for practitioners who want both a strong grounding in the core foundations of Immunity to Change and guided practice applying it in the settings where they work.

We are excited to introduce a new Minds at Work course offering for Fall 2026: Immunity to Change: Foundations to Application.

A stronger bridge from theory into practice

If you have worked with Immunity to Change for any length of time, you know that understanding the map and facilitating it well are not the same thing.

It is one thing to appreciate the power of the framework in theory. It is another to help someone build a strong map, recognize when the work is becoming vague or overly intellectual, and support the kind of testing that opens up real learning and meaningful change.

This is where the map truly comes alive — and it is also where many practitioners have wanted more support. Immunity to Change: Foundations to Application was designed from start to finish with that practical challenge in mind.

For many years, practitioners have come to us through the Facilitators' Workshop and ITC for 1:1 Coaching. Those courses have served important and different purposes, but they have also shared meaningful overlap. As we look ahead, we see an opportunity to create a more integrated path: one shared foundation in core map-making, followed by practice in distinct facilitation settings.

Course overview

The course begins with two days of foundational learning focused on the map-making capabilities that sit at the heart of Immunity to Change.

Together, participants explore:

  • How to build a strong map
  • What distinguishes a strong map from a weak one
  • Common failure modes in the map-making process
  • How to design tests and experiments that generate meaningful learning

From there, participants continue into a one-day Application Module focused on a specific practice setting.

For Fall 2026, the two Application Module options are: 1:1 Coaching — for practitioners using ITC in a sustained one-on-one coaching relationship — and Groups — for practitioners facilitating ITC with multiple individuals in a cohort or workshop setting.

A more flexible learning path

Participants may join the experience in one of two ways: enroll in a contiguous three-day course, or complete the two days of foundational learning first and return later for the Application Module most relevant to your practice.

This structure makes the shared foundation of the work more explicit, creates a stronger bridge between theory and practice, and gives practitioners more flexibility in how they deepen their learning over time.

It also creates a more natural path for past participants. If you have already completed the Facilitators' Workshop or ITC for 1:1 Coaching, you are qualified to attend a standalone Application Module. You are also welcome to join the full course if you would like a refresher on the foundational theory and map-making process.

Registration opens late June 2026.
